Mic Drop in the Red Sea

Dear Friends,

As part of our 2025 strategic plan, we are investing more resources in our goal of helping our most severely injured brothers not only reclaim their lives but literally reclaim the dreams they may have given up on after their injury. It sounds lofty but at BFL it’s a daily reality.   A living example of this is the video below of some brothers who are unable to walk actually scuba diving in the sea. They told us in the water they felt like they were flying!

Ohad Avraham, one of our senior BFL members who explains in the video matter-of-factly how he stepped on a mine, doesn’t share that his body bore the brunt of the entire blast.  Aside from losing his leg, the right side of his body including his arm was severely injured. It took him years to be able to walk on his prosthetic without pain.

The most powerful moment for me is when Yaniv Suiisa talks about how, since their injuries, our soldiers are always being told “No, you aren’t able to.”  This project is their chance to say in response, “Oh Yes. I just did.”   Mic drop in the Red Sea.

Shabbat Shalom from Israel,

Yaniv
