HOW WE CHANGE LIVES

The Beit Achim

The Beit Achim is a second home to our soldiers in every sense of the word. The facility itself is a cooperative project of BFL run by our members. At the Beit Achim, newly injured soldiers are introduced to a family of brothers they never knew they had. It is a safe, judgment-free sanctuary of healing. The Beit Achim hosts our core programs, group and individual therapy, tutoring, and all of our soldier-initiated projects. The facility also hosts groups from around the world, including delegations from Birthright, AIPAC, and UJA. At these meetings, our members share the lived experiences of the soldiers who defend Israel and the Jewish people, and describe the ethical commitment of IDF combat soldiers.

Northern Region
To meet the needs of our growing membership, we opened a new campus in 2023 in the Kibbutz Alonim, just 15 minutes south of Haifa.  As with our facility in Tel Aviv, the Alonim house is a cooperative run by Northern BFL members. These brothers handled the initial construction and landscaping, and provide ongoing maintenance. The new Beit Achim looks and feels like a real home, and offers soldiers rehabilitation, therapy, alternative medical treatments, mentoring, classes, and workshops.
Southern Region
15% of our members live in southern Israel.  Our long-term plan is to open a third campus in the South. Until then, we have created programs that are offered locally for our Southern members—medical treatments and rehabilitation services, PTSD counseling and workshops, education and vocational training, and soldier-to-soldier programs, to name a few.  We also host an annual dinner for our Southern members at the main Beit Achim in Tel Aviv each year.
