HOW WE CHANGE LIVES

PTSD Project

“The trip to Kilimanjaro was life-changing, and a huge leap in my recovery. After my injury, my self-confidence got trampled down. I avoided physical challenges because they stirred up memories of what I felt while trying to save the soldiers in my battalion.” – Ofer

PTSD can be far worse than losing a limb because it affects the whole self. PTSD paralyzes the mind and heart, and leaves soldiers isolated and in despair. BFL has created multiple programs to provide crucial aid to members suffering from PTSD:

In House Peer Led Counseling – Soldier-led counseling programs, both group and individual, help veterans who are suffering from invisible wounds to rebuild their resilience and manage their mental health.

Challenge Treks – These adventure-based experiences help our members face their physical and emotional difficulties, and both receive and provide help to other wounded brothers.

Therapy Dog Project – Specially trained PTSD dogs change the lives of veterans with PTSD. These service dogs detect a change in mood or state of mind in an instant, and provide moment-to-moment security and protection. They become loving companions who replace isolation with a renewed ability to engage with the world.
