May 1, BFL Biweekly

Helping a BFL member enter the workforce and find a career is often one of the most important steps in their return to life. Over the years, we have been privileged to build relationships with some of the leading companies in Israel and many of our members now work at these companies. This week the amazing list of companies below came to our center for a special BFL Job Fair attended by over 300 members. It was a great moment for us to see both the caliber of companies and even more the caliber of our injured soldiers looking to join them.

One of these soldiers who was previously looking for work came as a representative of one of the leading companies in the world technology space.

“After more than 20 years as a wounded soldier, I can say that work has been a great part of my recovery. It creates a separation between the daily struggle with the injury and the commitment to focus on something meaningful. It helps me move forward everyday, both as a person and in my recovery.”

This is how Chaim Yakar described the role work has played in his life.

Chaim, a combat soldier in the Kfir unit, was severely injured in 2006 during an operation in Judea and Samaria. He was wounded in his leg, arm, and eye from shrapnel, and like many of our soldiers, continues to live with PTSD. He first met NVIDIA through Brothers for Life at a previous career fair. This week, he returned to that same space in a different role representing the company, meeting other brothers, and helping them take their next step forward.

We are grateful to NVIDIA, Elbit, Rafael, Israel Aircraft Industries, and all the companies who participated in this historic moment. May these partnerships only continue.
